Hello there. My father has just asked me to inquire here in the UK, about a piano he has just purchased in South Africa. It's a John Brinsmead Upright Iron Grand, serial 38761, scale 22 with 2 candlestick holders. Are we right in saying that this piano is from around 1890? Would any piano tuner be able to have a look at it and just how common were these types of pianos? Kind regards,
Kerrin

They're common over here, Victorian pianos have very little value or respect from the piano-buying public in the UK. I can't say about South Africa. The number suggests 1892. Can't help with tuners over there.
