Holdernesse & Holdernesse

Post by cindy95900 »

Hi, everyone. Who knows about Holdernesse & Holdernesse piano Co when it was established in London? and when it stopped manufacturing? I have a Holdernesse & Holdernesse piano. This piano was handcrafted with silk, candle holders and so on, but I don't know of this piano's history at all. I'm very grateful if someone can help me. thanks!

First showed up in the London directories in 1856 as Holdernesse and Holdernesse at 444 Oxford Street, last entry was 1899 but then it changed to Charles Holdernesse till the c1920

Charles Holdernesse est 1851 to 1922 they exhibited at the great exhibition 1n 1856 he took on a partner a member of the family that is when it became Holdernesse and Holdernesse there is one of their pianos in the collector museum at Yale USA

In 1899, Holdernesse & Holdernesse were at 105 New Oxford Street WC & 7 & 8 Maynard Street WC.

By 1906, Charles Holdernesse & Co. were at 7 & 8 Maynard Street WC; Black Horse Yard, Rathbone Place W.
