Army & Navy

Post by jon »

hi i see people have looked at my query but no answers. I've found another marking on it now and it's under the lid. It says "Army & Navy 2526". Anybody know anything? I would be very gratful. Jon

Hi Jon,

The Army and Navy is a department store in Victoria, London. It is now part of House of Fraser stores. My guess is that it was a badged piano sold by them. Maybe they have something in their archives?

Many years ago, I went through the archives of the Army & Navy Co-Operative Stores before they closed. A century ago, they were selling lots of pianos. 2526 is probably their stock number, which is no use because their archives have disappeared.
