Music tray emergency!

Post by Openwood »

Does anyone know if I could get hold of a music tray for a Yam P116N (mahogany) within the next week??!!!

The piano was used to accompany an 'avant garde' piece for recorder last year, the highlight of which was the slamming down of the piano lid. Guess what happened to the music tray..... (and no, I wasn't the slammer!)

It's been glued back together by my local piano technician but it won't bear much weight and obviously it isn't nice to look at.

My tuner ordered a replacement in August but it still hasn't arrived. The local music festival is due to use the piano on Sunday 11th and I'd love to get a new one fitted in time for that.

Any ideas? I'm on Guernsey so it would have to be posted.

Thanks

Don't they have cabinet makers on Guernsey? Or good chippies?(Carpenters, not chip shops). Or furniture restorers? Any of them could probably make you one, and no doubt it'd be better than a Yammy one - AND they could make it longer to accommodate all the music you ever needed to put on a music desk!

I suppose I could get one made - I just didn't think it would prove to be so difficult to get a small strip of wood out of Yamaha! The bloody things are always breaking so you'd think they'd keep a few handy in the back room.

There used to be a place selling pianos down near Fauxquets Valley , maybe he could come up with a temporary solution if he's still in business.....
