J J Hopkinson Piano

Post by mtinbas »

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been given a Piano. I do not play and neither does anyone in the family. I had it checked out by a tuner because some of the keys did not work. Does any one know of J J Hopkinson Pianos.

J. & J. Hopkinson are one of the more famous London makers, we have one here. What information are you looking for?

Hi! I have a J.&J. Hopkinson piano and I looking for more information such as age/worth. We inherited at least 50 years ago when we lived in London and we assume it is more then 100 years old. It had ivory or bone keys but they have been replaced with wood ones. The serial number is 73S12. It has 50 white keys and 35 black keys. I can an attach pictures if needed but we would love some basic information! We are clueless! Thank you so much!

85 notes is normal, as are wooden keys, although the coverings may be ivory. The serial number would not have letters embedded in it, can you see any other numbers, or any kind of information written on the piano? Please do not post large images here, post links or email me. See also the Valuation link at www.pianogen.org

Okay, So I am assuming then that the serial number is then 73812. There is a number on the Iron frame below the keyboard, 516.

Hope that helps and thank you for replying so fast!

The number suggests 1922, and the photos seem consistent with that. Have a look at the Datemarks link at pianogen.org

Thank you so much, that date will be very helpful! I know you said that it would be impossible but to give an estimate of worth but could you possibly give us a range within a few hundred pounds? Thank you so much, this really is a great service you do!
