The serial number makes it about 1857. As a piano it's probably worth nothing, but as an antique it may be worth something to someone as set dressing - but as an inheritance from your grandad it's priceless to YOU.
Point of view, see? We can't value it anyway, without seeing it; we ain't psychic! Get a tuner out to look; s/he will know the local market far better than us and will be able to give you a price for insurance/resale.

NO!!!! You really need to get a tuner in; we can't tell what pitch it is or how it sounds from a photo, can we? Come on, hand in pocket and dig deep; I know it hurts, but we all have to part with the readies some time!

This is not the right forum for Piano History, which is separate, and has a better chance of yielding history answers. The catalogue of the 1880 Melbourne Exhibition says "Originality for the folding keyboard was claimed, but this invention is well known and adopted by so many French makers as to be hardly worth notice". A number of museums quote completely wrong dates for Aucher pianos, probably because the published dates of their serial numbers begin at 1820, although the firm didn't begin until 1845.
