LEARNING ON A PIANO VERSES A KEYBOARD
Post by Georgina10 »
Hello
Please could somebody give me advice on the best instrument for my 10 year old daughter to learn to play the piano on. She has just passed her prep test. A keyboard with touch sensitve keys which are also weighted seem like a good idea as she can have it in her bedroom. Her piano teacher says a piano would be better. Being a none player would appreiciate some advice.

Please could somebody give me advice on piano verses the keyboard, for my 10 year old daughter to practise the piano. She has just passed her prep test. I understand you can buy keyboards that are touch sensitive and have weighted keys are these any good?

Get a piano, if at all possible. Don't believe the crap that anyone tells you about keyboards. Even the best are totally inadequate. I have to teach on one in a school and half the stuff I describe to the student's is barely audible when I try to demonstrate it. You need a piano if you're ever going to develop a real feeling for sound.
