Eavestaff Piano

Post by Lang »

I have just bought my grandaughter a tidy little Eavestaff Minipiano. Can someone please help me with the manufacture date?
In the centre of the Piano above the keys there is the Eavestaff sticker Pianette, Minipiano. To the right there is all the patent information. To the left there are two stickers One saying "As played by Pricess Ingrid of Sweden" The other says "As played by T.R.H. Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose of York"

Under the keys on the board holding the tuning keys there is the number 10958 stamped in the wood.

On the action at the rear there is a gold sticker with Herrberger, Brooks London

There are numerous markings left by piano tuners under and beside the bottom key. Most of the pencil marks have faded but the oldest date I can find is ?/12/58

Any clues would be much appreciated.

Are you saying that the tuning pins are inside a flap under the keyboard? If so, the number suggests 1944, when the Princesses were young girls. Have a look at the Datemarks link at pianogen.org

Thank you, Bill,

Yes, the number is under the drop-down board alongside the tuning keys beneath the keyboard. Looks like it has been put on the wood with the same stamps that were used to name each tuning key (about 3/8" high)

I have searched carefully with a torch and can not find anything else. Will pull the action out (needs a good vacuum anyhow) to see what else is under it.
