Box Grand?

Post by java9090 »

Hello, I was just given a Box Grand piano. I am trying to find any history I can about it. I was told it was junk by a piano salesman. However, it's a beautiful piano (solid mahogany) with ivory keys. I was just wondering if anyone can help me out. There is a metal plate above the keys, but the piece is so old, you can't make out what it said. If you unscrew the legs, it has a number and either H M or HW imprinted on them.

Thanks!

The term "box grand piano" means nothing. By "box" do you mean it is oblong? By "grand" do you mean its strings are in a horizontal plane? Is it a piano at all? An oblong horizontal piano is known as a Square Piano, is that what you mean? Like a rectangular table with a keyboard set into the longer side? Can you email me some photos?
