Kirkman London

Post by ad31805 »

My Grandmother called me a couple of days ago and ask to me to look up some information on a piano she found in a old house she is moving into. The piano looks pretty old she said and the only information she could find or get off of it said...

Kirkman London Upright
Patent Trichord Improved
Serial Number# 10726
It also had the words in French: Dieu Et Mon Droit

Also it has a candle holder on each side with a design in the middle. She also said that she could see that there was more writing on it but it was so old it couldn't be read anymore. That was all she could get off it. Basically she wanted to know if it was worth refurbishing and/or if actually it was worth anything at all. If somebody could get back to me on this. That would be great. Thank you,
Amanda

"Deu et mon droit" appears on the royal crest because Kirkman supplied pianos to the royal family. The number suggests the early 1860s, and although we have no definite evidence that these dates are correct, the numbers do seem about right. See my comments about valuation and victorian pianos at pianogen.org

I would be interested to see photos, but please don't post large images on this forum.
