Broadwoood piano
Hi, I recently thought about selling my piano. It has been in my family for at least 4 generations, but I didn't realise it had any value at all and was only expecting about 20 pounds for it as it needs to be tuned, apart from that it is in beautiful condition, and is very pretty. Its serial number is 13921 and is an upright John Broadwood, does anyone have any idea of how much its worth roughly? if you could let me know i'd be really grateful thanks

John Broadwood have a website where you can check the age of your piano:
http://www.uk-piano.org/broadwood/serial_numbers.html
No idea of the value - it will depend on condition - but I have a 1915 Broadwood upright in pretty good shape, and reckon its probably worth around £500.

I've got an 1890s John Broadwood & Son upright...
Is it likely to be 'OK' if tuned or its it probably too far gone?
It seems to be straight sprung and wooden framed as far as I can tell. Probably not been tuned for a good 15 years (has been at my Mum's house for a while longer).
Any help/advise would be much appreciated.

I'd be interested to learn more about the Broadwood 1830s-40s, are any photos available?

Although I never object to any piano photos, I can see 1890s Broadwood almost any day, it was the possibility that it was 1840-ish that made me ask. You may have fallen into one of several traps covered by the item on numbers at pianogen.org and it is perhaps not that old.

on first looks, its a typical upright made around the 1900's. and dam, oblong pins! I hate those! I would guess 1890 to 1900

The slideshow displayed a series of 58 blank screens, but the photo was not the piano I asked about.
