Hello,
I`ve a problem with a Ganer-square.
I think, the middle part of it`s insetion-work is green:Image
I`ve seen something like that in a Betts-piano:http://www.hammerfluegel.net/actions/im ... =1600x1200
My question: which kind of wood is that (it seems to be oak but I`m not sure). ?
And how did they made it green (originally)?
Yours, Stefan

I'm sorry no-one has answered you, it's not that I'm ignoring you, but I deal mainly with history, so if you wanted information about Ganer, I may be able to help, but you really need a restorer with first-hand experience of pulling Ganer square pianos apart. Even then, I don't know if they will be able to tell you how the colour was produced. In the end, does it matter, as long as the colour turns out right? Polishers have to match colours every day, a much-under-rated art for which I have great admiration. Try searching Google for restorers of square pianos.
