Paint chip repair?
I recently purchased a Barratt & Robinson compact upright (sn 69868 which is apparently manufactured around 1978). It is white in colour and seems to have been painted professionally, if by the factory or elsewhere, with a high gloss finish. The manufacturer's name above the keyboard was left unpainted. Over the years the piano has accumulated a number of paint chips.
I'd like to repair the paint chips to restore the paint job but do not wish to mess up the current paint job. (1) The colour needs to be matched and (2) the same finish provided. (I checked out automotive paint chip repair Web sites but didn't come up with anything very convincing. A US firm called drcolorchip provides a product for car paint chips which may, or may not, be one solution.)
Suggestions? Experience in the like? Knowledge to share?

Re: Paint chip repair?
Do you mean that the name transfer (capital italic letters were the norm for a B&R) is applied to the white finish, or is there a border of wood visible around the name?michaels wrote:I recently purchased a Barratt & Robinson compact upright (sn 69868 which is apparently manufactured around 1978). There's a car firm called Chipsaway/Chipaway who guarantee to hide chips in car paint. Worth a try...? I have effected running repairs on a white Elysian grand in a hotel using little pots of white enamel that they use for repairing enamel on white goods (like washing machines and so on). I got it in our local ironmonger's shop.
