does anyone have any idea how much my Nathaniel Berry upright metal grand piano is worth. It's serial number is 36871. I'm being pressurised to sell for Ł80 to clear room for my husband's stereo. The possible buyer is coming tomorrow.

Value

Post by Bill Kibby »

No-one anywhere can give you a valuation without a tuner's report because if, for example, the tuning pins are loose it could cost two thousand pounds to fix it. The number suggests 1938, and you are probably lucky if you get eighty pounds unless it has been fully restored.

Bill,Thank you for the reply.
I have decided to keep it, & relearn how to play. I had not realised that it could be that old - the stereo will go elsewhere. I will be looking into the tuning aspect in due course.
Sentiment won the day due to the memories linked to it.

Fortunately, that's something you can't put a price-tag on! If one could, more old pianos would be lost.
