John Brinsmead & Sons piano

Post by zymmer4 »

Hello, I have a John Brinsmead & Sons piano, #54955. It has a label painted inside stating it was built under the appointment of George IV. It is walnut with mahagony inlay. The candlesticks are original. I found it in a bombed out Catholic church in St.Ives in 1972. What do we know about this fine piano? E-mail me at zymmer4@yahoo.com. I will reply immediately to info concerning this fine piano.

Showing your email address like this lays you open to lots of SPAM, that's why we have buttons, do you want us to remove it? The number suggests 1905. If you have an ordinary upright-type piano with sconces (candleholders) it is almost impossible for it to have been made in the time of George IV (1820-1830) and anyway, Brinsmead didn't start his business until 1837, the year Victoria came to the throne. References to Kings are usually there to show that the maker had supplied a piano to the King, but they don't refer to that individual piano, the message could appear on thousands of pianos. Certainly, Brinsmead pianos often mention George V, who was much later.
