Oldish Pianos

Post by RichardHughes »

I have aquired some old pianos (this century) that still sound pretty good and appear to be in half decent condition (apart from some slight worn parts). Stroud is written on two of them, and Addison & Addison is written on one, with W. Chandler and Sons in a smaller font underneath. I have included some pics, and will add some more very soon, I would appreciate any information anyone can give me on these pianos, as I am interested in their history and value (although I appreciate this may be hard to do without seeing them) anything u can tell me to spot a fraud ripping me off will be of value. Check out these pics and let me know your thoughts.

Firstly, we don't deal with organs. You would stand a much better chance of responses if you deal with each maker separately, and use the name as your heading. The photos are too big for this forum, and may have to be deleted. I don't think you have to worry about fraud with names as ordinary as Stroud or Addison. As far as value is concerned, there is no particular value in these names, everything depends on your tuner's report. See

Info about Stroud

Post by cmkohnle »

One of the several pianos manufactured by the Aeolian Company, of New York is Stroud. You can find further information here. http://www.bluebookofpianos.com/ They will give everything you need to know about your American piano. Hope this helps.
