B. Squire

Hi Bill

I have tried looking everywhere to find the date of my beloved piano to no avail.

It is a B. Squire upright with serial number 52541.

Any info would be appreciated.

Life is rarely as simple as people would like it to be, and that goes for piano serial numbers. If it is preceded by the letter K, it would have been made by Kemble in 1936. See

No, it isn't preceeded with the 'K' but 1936 sounds plausible. I bought it 15 years ago from a man who was going into a retirement home (his date of birth was 31st Dec 1899) and he wanted it to go to a good home. Not entirely sure if it had an owner before him. By coincidence, I received a brand new Kemble as a gift 7 years ago. I wouldn't part with either piano though! I am just extremely curious about the history of the B. Squire. I know it was bought from a shop in my home town of Newcastle upon Tyne (the address is just above the keyboard).
