Bansall, London made some pianos with the name WILMOTT, but yours is not one I know of: Can you give us any more information, such as an address, town or country?

Randy says "I thought I was going daffy for a moment, but it does say John WILLMOTT and Co.. 259 Caledonian Rd. London N. I am at a loss and confused now. Any suggestions? As for numbers, 5133, is engraved in the wood inside. Thanks for your time. perhaps this will be an antique adventure for je."

Probably not an antique in the sense that the firm only appeared about a hundred years ago. They continued until the second world war. No dates of serial numbers are available, but #6680 was made after 1919. The same would apply to yours if the action was made by Herrburger Brooks.

John Willmott pianos

I also have one of these pianos, serial # 7590. My piano tuner says it probably won't last much longer but it's ok for grades 1 and 2, which is what my children are doing. I find it amazing that one has turned up in New Orleans, which is where we're going next month, incidentally...
