Strauch

Post by taosfire »

I'm rebuilding a piano for someone, it has been in the family for a long time. They have no idea how old it is or what is is even called. It has no name plates or markings on the piano itself. Strauch Bros. New York Was labeled on the inside of the action. The piano has no veneer, solid wood. The harp does not extend up to the string pins. Beautiful cut out carvings on the face and ornate carved legs. Three of the bass keys were marked with 15 9. I have never seen a piano constructed like this one and am most curious as to what it is and would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you so, Taosfire

We don't see them over here, and no dates of serial numbers are available.

Strauch Bros

Post by Miss Julie »

Hello.

I have a Starr Piano, made approx. around 1905/1906. It has the serial number 59458 on the back and on the inside. It is marked in numerous places with awards, patents, and such with early dates, but my opinion is that the year i have already mentioned it prob. the more correct date. The reason for the response is that it also has Strauch Bros action on it. its numbers are on the keys and is 4999( but the wood working all has the numbers 2295 its mohogany with some tiny yet very artistic beads that trace the face of the piano and has leaves that kinda hold the open lid top, anyways..(i love my piano, lol) ) maybe you have a piano made by the same company. they made many pianos, and i know its a long shot, but its worth looking into i thought. They are called Starr Pianos, and here is a site of some names and numbers on them.. http://www.waynet.org/facts/starr-piano.htm

hope it helps..
