1800's London Churchill

Post by elmsneil »

Looking for more info on my 1800's, "London Churchill" (key cover markings) upright, 85 key, vertical action, open birdcage...SN 8723. It was distributed by "Hastings Ltd" in Clapham Junction according to the printed warranty label. It has a "leopard look" wood finish. I bought it off a little ol gal in Northants three years ago and shipped it over to Virginia. The best I could find is a possible Liverpool manufacturer match... any help?

cheers

Hastings

Hastings began around a hundred years ago, and continued up to the second world war. There were several firms called Churchill, but I have no record so far of a real London maker with that name. Many people feel frustrated if their piano has no name, but many piano names are meaningless, and the vast majority cannot be found on the internet. Ours is the world's largest collection of historical information on british pianos, and there are over twenty thousand on our files alone! See
