is my new grotrian steinweg the real thing?

Hi all,

I just purchased a Grotrian Steinweg, Chambre size, second-hand from a private party in California, at a fabulously good price. Now I'm suddenly wondering if I ought to make sure it's a genuine Grotrian... I guess the point is moot, since I like the piano, but I would like to know. The serial number inside the piano doesn't correspond with serial numbers at the grotrian website. What do you think?

Seeing that it's actually "Grotrian, Helfferich, Schulz" I suspect it's a fake!

I get that it is from around 1905 from running the serial number but that was leaving out the DG.

In what sense do you imagine it NOT to be genuine? In 1865, Theodore Steinweg retired, & sold the Brunswick factory to Messrs. Grotrian, Helferrich & Schulz, employees of the firm, who formed themselves into a limited company, under the name of C.F.Th. Steinweg Nachfolger - meaning "Successors to C.F.Th. Steinweg". They still produced the same pianos, in the same factory, and called them Grotrian Steinweg, although Steinways didn't like it. Almost any Grotrian piano you might see outside museums was produced by them.
