Barratt & Robinson

Hi, i recently purchased a Barratt & Robinson piano for £700. Believed to be made in the 1970s. Cannot seem to find serial no. Is is a good make? or have i made a mistake.

Do you like playing it? Surely that's the question. They were fairly cheap pianos, but some have a very pleasant tone and touch. It should be dated under the keys, see

Thank you for the info. But i dare not open or do anything to it to find the serial no. I will ask the tuner when i have the piano tuned next. The piano is actually for my son. Just that someone told me that i could now get a brand new Barratt Robinson now for just around £2000!! (If true, i would have top up the £1200 for a new one instead)

A new Barratt & Robinson is horrible Malaysian rubbish which appear to be assembled and regulated as if by monkeys.

Stick with your old one until you can afford a real upgrade!

Hi, thank you for advice. Set my mind at rest. Everyone says that China made German brand pianos are getting very good and a bargain buy. So is Malaysia and Indonesia, on their German and English make. But i have many friends as well, who only recommends pianos made in Western Europe even if not brand new, could still be just as good- specially German pianos but then again these friends of mine are Germans!! Hence the loyalty!!! I am getting confused with all the advice frm friends. What kind of faults with pianos made in Asia?
