Urgent Freebie Piano to take or not to take?
Hi guys,
Well heres my problem. I am an experienced piano player but have moved interstate to study and thus my piano is back at home. I can't afford to buy a piano on my budget, but would like to have one just to play on every now and then.
I saw an ad in the paper for a freebie piano that was in 'good condition' so I went to have a look. The piano looks good from the outside. It is a wagner (not sure how old) and the keys don't stick at all. However, when a key is pressed the note hangs on (almost like you have the sustain pedal on) this occurs on ALL the keys on the piano. The man who is giving it away says it is a tuning problem but a piano tuner told me this was not the case. However, none of the piano tuners will tell me what kind of problem it might be and whether it would be costly to fix. I am just wondering if i should take it?
PLEASE HELP!

Have you looked inside? If so, look to see whether the action is in contact with the strings; sounds as though the action may just have fallen away from the strings. Push the action in as far as you can, and make sure any action bolts/hooks are fastened as tight as they can be.
