Wilhelm Forster Leipzig History

I have an old German piano that says Wilhelm Forster Leipzig. I am unable to find any information about this piano. The piano is black, very ornate, has metal candlesticks on the front with a lion's head decoration and ornate metal handles on each side. The legs are large lion's heads with paw feet. There are two (2) round metal medallions next to the large nameplate, which have German written in them. One of the medallions also has a man's head in it. Can anyone please help me with any information about my piano?

No-one anywhere can trace the life history of every individual piano, all I can do is interpret whatever information or photos you send me. If you can find numbers inside the top, these will help. That text in german will probably be about exhibition medals, and may give us clues to the age. With german uprights, if you know how to remove the action (the working parts of the notes) safely it may have the action makers' name and number on the rear, and we may be able to date the piano. Could you email some photos to me? See

Thank you for your response. I will take some pictures and send them to you. Also, I will look and see if I am able to find any name or numbers. I love my piano and would like to find out anything about it. My piano does have a "story" about it on where it came from and how it got to the USA but I do not know the names of the people that owned it in Germany before WWII. Right now, it is only a "story".
