We don't see them over here, and numbers are not always that simple, this one does not correspond to the published numbers, which have 5 digits.

Mendelssohn piano

Post by Clara »

Greetings from western Canada! I, too, have a Mendelssohn piano, but with a 4-digit number. Research has revealed that the Mendelssohn Piano Company was in Toronto, Ontario, from 1886 to 1919 when Bell Piano took over the company. Lesage Pianos became the new owners in 1934. That company stopped production in 1972. Beyond that, I am having difficulty in learning when my piano was built. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

I have had several enquiries about these over the years, all with 4-digit numbers, and they are just some of the millions of pianos in the world which cannot be dated by numbers: See

Your best hope is to find a local history source in Toronto.
