Adjustable stool
I am after an adjustable stool to use on a Chappell upright. It needs to be high, best part of 2 foot. I am looking on the net for brands or getting one secondhand. I am not too impressed with ones that can be dismantled. I don't want to spend more than Ł150, Ł30 to Ł50 if poss.

Go to your local second hand furniture shop or antique centre or auction. Make sure of the height you want, and take a tape measure out shopping with you. I've picked up nice Edwardian stools for around 25 quid.

It's being rebuilt for the last ever time - as a present for my 40th and it's semi-retirement. I was 45 last week...foolishly, we said 'Take your time, there's no hurry...'! (I know a lady never tells her age, but there's an orderly queue forming of people eager to tell you that I ain't no lady).

I can fold the passenger seat down and poke the action through from the boot...OR...I can have it sticking out of the roof...OR...I can lean it up againgst the passenger seat...OR...I can whine at my husband and borrow his Golf estate. Unless he's in France filling it up with booooooooze. (and before anyone says it, it actually runs on diesel, not booze. Though the way Gordon Brown's going, merlot might be cheaper...)
