T.G.Payne

Post by Tammy Overstreet »

I have a beautiful TG Payne piano with ivory Key's, I am not sure of the wood..it is a dark wood with a beautiful floral inlay design on front...Ellis Ainsley Parkgate Rotherham logo above keyboard..The TG Payne gold seal emblems are underneath keyboard cover and 10 year warranty under top..I think it is a 1928 model..but I cannot remember exactly because I found it when I had someone tune it up. I can post pics if necessary, I would like an estimate of the value since I am looking to sell this piano.

Unusually, the name changed from T. & G. Payne to T.G. Payne some time after 1914. Are you sure it's "Ainsley" and not "Ainley"? I am always interested to receive photos for my files if you would like to email them, but no-one anywhere will give you a valid valuation without a tuner's report. I saw one which had a floral design painted on afterwards, but from what you say, this is a more conventional inlaid floral design. Ivory keys are not unsual either.

You are correct...It is Ellis and Ainley above the keyboard...and the floral design is inlaid .here are a few pics...the lighting is not so good but I think this will show you the inlay. I was hoping to get about 600.00 for the piano. What is a tuners report?

also, the wood is a light and dark mix, I'm thinking curly maple but I really have no clue, It is really beautiful wood but unfortunately my pics do not show the true beauty of the wood.

A tuner's report is a report done by a tuner! The photos don't show anything of what the piano looks like, and they are too big for the forum, we will have to delete them, because they're gumming up the works!

Is it Ellis & Ainley, or Ellis Ainley?

It is Ellis Ainley..sorry about the photos being so big, I took them off. Thanks for your help.
I'll check back in again in case you have more to tell me about the piano.
