I wouldn't dream of using WD40 on a customers piano. Apart from anything else, it is an easing oil NOT a lubricant! Oh, and it is brilliant for removing the residue from sticky labels

American tuners won't touch them because they can't tune them with Electronic Tuning Devices which are far more common there than they are here. They use felt strip mutes for the whole instrument, tune using the ETD then put in the unisons at the end. Rather difficult with an overdamper

Can I offer another solution to the sight-reading problem? Give up doing exams! Continue with piano lessons which you enjoy, just cut out the stressful bits like sight -reading infront of a complete stranger. Scales etc are good for technique and for aural training which in the end will help you to ...

Personally, I think that Bach's Prelude in C is easier than Fur Elise. There are a couple of Beethoven Bagatelles which are also much more beginner friendly.

I'm afraid to say that my knowledge of musical instruments that you plug into the mains is very limited. I know a Clavinova if I see one, and will play anything digital/electric if I'm in a music shop but that's about it. This instrument was sitting on a portable stand and looked to be at least 6 oc...
