Hi,
I'm not sure if this is posted in the correct forum. I am looking for a dance band/swing band/big band of any size to play with. Does anybody have any information/vacancies that may be of interest to me? I live in York and am prepared to travel (within reason).
Many thanks
Matthew

Kelman
Hi,
Has anybody any information on the maker Kelman, I have become aware of a local piano for sale by this make. It is a baby grand with the serial number 7862, is anybody aware of where I may be able to find an approximate date of manufacture.
Any information would be useful.
Many thanks
Matt

Spencer
Hi,
I have now obtained the 'Spencer' piano that was discussed in the general piano forum a short time ago. The serial number is 80245, could anybody tell me it's age?
On another note, it was used on some occasions by Flanders and Swann for some of their smaller concerts.
Many thanks
Matthew

For information, the Piano is overstrung and under dampered. When you press a key and you can feel some sort of movement before what appears to be the normal action movement (asthough something slips slightly) does anybosy have an idea what this could be? It seems to be more noticable when playing '...

Hi, I have just been offered another piano which upon playing I found had a lovely tone and was reasonably in tune but I think the action is in need of some attention. The keys are not very responsive, in some areas allowing you to play 'fff' or not at all. The name displayed was 'Spencer, London'. ...

Hi, I own a Kemble (although it is simply an accoustic piano)I choose the Kemble over the Yamaha because it sounded very mellow and in my opinion was a smooth deep tone in comparison to the Yamaha which I found to be too bright and sharp. I was surprised at how the two different pianos sounded consi...

Archibald Ramsden
Hi, Just out of interest, my first piano was a straight strung, over damper piano by Archibald Ramsden, I think I remember that it said London and Darlington on the label. It was a Wallnut case with Candle holders and very fancy engraving of an urn with plants growing out of it. Althought the piano ...

Hi, When I was getting my most recent piano I looked into getting a Yamaha but to my ear I found the tone a little too bright. I ended up with a Kemble, I understand that they are practically identical to the Yamaha in construction but I much prefered the more mellow tone. Before getting the piano I...

Water Damage to Piano
Hi,
I need some advice. Around four months ago I spilt some water on my Piano keyboard causing about half an octaves worth of keys to swell up and stick. Some of the keys have freed off with the warm weather but some are still stuck and look slightly warped. What should I do?
