At grave risk of heresy , might I suggest a keyboard with smaller keys? One of those cheap casio keyboards in my opinion would entertain a child for quite a while. Alright, the main negative bit is it's not a piano. BUT, if it spurs the child on to play the piano once he/she begins to appreciat...

How do I become a piano tech/tuner?
Hi all! Am currently abroad in another career, but have been wondering about a change. If I wanted to pursue being a Piano Tech in the UK/Eire what's really the best way to go about doing it? Where should I look to getting my training? What sort of qualifications should I aim for? Generally is it ha...

Thanks
Thanks, Barrie, that's very helpful. The picture - if I recall correctly that's exactly how the piano in question looked like except that it had 'Spencer' stencilled on it instead. So it's most likely made in Gloucester by Bentley and not knocked up in China or Korea. That's probably good isn't it ?...

Tuning and temperament
Could I trouble the techs and tuners amongst you out there for some clarification? I understand that nowadays most pianos are tuned to equal temperament, but I also the process is largely aural and by instinct and experience and allowances have to be made for the overtones or partials. How is 'equal...

new KAWAI KX21 - production run ending? or Second hand U1
Dear All I happen to be in Oz at present and am shopping around for a proper 'real' piano - on a budget of course, ideally I'd like to spend less than 1500 quid or so. I went into one of the big dealers locally the other day and they had these Kawai KX21 verticals (studios) on 'sale' which they were...

'New' Spencer Piano (circa late 1980's)
Dear All, I wonder if anyone in the know knows anything about vertical Spencer pianos made AFTER 1942 (when the orginal Spencer company ceased business I gather). Basically, 1. where it was made? (I have suspicions the far east) 2. history and average quality, problems if known. One of my relatives ...
