Quite suddenly my clp170, Purchased in Jan.2005, has reduced volume and the sound is thin and tinny I have removed the back and checked all visible connections, reset to factory settings, unplugged headphones, and set speaks to on but to no avail. Phoned Yamaha they suspect a faulty power amplifier,...

Struggle with some chords

I have quite large hands but struggle with some chords, eg c, e, g, c. and g, b, f, g. How do others handle this, particularly ladies with small hands. Which exercises are best for this problem, eg Hanon, Czerny, Wieck, etc

Digital piano sampling banks

I believed that each of the 88 notes on a good digital piano where individually sampled, but thinking about it i'm not so sure. If a digital piano has for eg. 50 sampling banks does it mean that 50 notes are sampled and the other 38 interpolated in some way.
Help me to understand please.

Fingering exercises Carlo Albanesi 1901

Has anybody heard of this book, Fingering exercises by Carlo Albanesi 1901, and do you know of any others similar maybe more up todate.
Note the distinction between fingering excercises, and finger exercises.

SVPWORLD your views on the clp170

It would be interesting to know your views on the CLP170.
I bought one and think it's very good, my criticisms are that the highest notes are weak, its seems to lack oooomph, and compared to my teachers Kemble lacks resonance. I have all the settings at default

CLP170 TO CLP380 not sure

I have been considering upgrading my CLP170 to a clp380 but I see that the CLP380 is going to cost about 3000 GBP when it is released. This amount of money I notice can get me a new Perzina, or Waldstein, or for 2400 GBP upwards a fully restored U3, and there are many others from well known dealers ...

clp170 to clp380 upgrade help

I bought a clp170 in 2005 and think its great, however rumours about the clp380 and how wonderful its likely to be have given me upgrade fever. Should I consider upgrading, will the be any real benefit, or should I wait for the fever to subside and reconsider in a few years time.

plastic keys wooden keys

The clp280 has wooden keys the clp270 has plastic, but I believe they both have the same GH3 action. Is there a difference in feel. Will the difference, if there is one, apply between the clp370 and clp380.
Has anyone tried the clp 380 yet.

Help with fingering

Help needed with fingering. If I have before me a piece without fingering how do I decide which fingers to start with etc. The only advice I have received so far is 1. just do it if it works for you its ok. 2. Learn and practice scales and arpeggios. I dont find either very helpful (though I do appr...
