Our location may have gotten lost in the subject line, we're in New Zealand.

Definitely high humidity all year round!

in NZ.

We definitely have high humidity. The Knight in our teacher's studio has firmer action than the K-25. It's a much older piano though, could this be a factor?

question about responsiveness of keys

We've been enjoying our new K-25 for a couple of months now but finally got the chance to try the K-3. The keys felt very responsive and even to the touch, it was an *easy* piano to play. Sound was OK, not really much different from the K-25 to my ears (hard to compare in the store setting without a...

difference between maple action and mahogony action?

Still looking at Kawai pianos -- I am told that mahogony action is better than maple action. Can somebody explain how does this manifests in the feel and sound of a piano?

This from Kawai Aus/NZ:

Re - K-25EA

E is just a model and
A stands for Australia

I would still like to know what other K-25 models there were and how they differ to the K-25E.

Hm, thanks. I will try to find out more.

I haven't seen a K3 yet but played the K5, which sounded and felt fantastic.

Thank you. I was told this piano was Japanese made. The A is not a prefix to the serial number, it's part of the model number (just to clarify). I was also told the E stands for ebony but I have since read that the E refers to the tone of the piano (on the brighter side). Does anybody know if this i...

Kawai K25, Kawai K3 -- advice please

I am looking to buy a piano for myself (used to play many years ago, would like to resume playing) and my oldest daughter (age 9, has been playing for a couple of years). Have been looking at lower end new and some middle 2nd hand pianos (Yamaha U1 etc). Today I saw a Kawai K25, on sale because mode...
