Re: Estonia Model 168
I had a 2001 Estonia 168. It was a decent piano, Renner action, I particularly liked to tone and dynamic range. On the downside, the cabinetry left something to be desired. I almost changed it for a new 190, but bought a Bluthner 6 instead. It proved to be no better than the equivalent Estonia. They...

Pete,
You may be right about the mic, or the old strings, maybe soft hammers. Try plucking the string near the termination point. You may generate better partials that way. If the problem is a bad string, try adjacent strings to see if they are any better.

The Tunelab trial version is full function - it just stops for two minutes now and then to encourage you to buy a licence. There is also a version for Laptop. That's free too. You can't get much cheaper than that.

Pete, you don't need to spend a fortune to get a very good ETD. If you have a PDA with a touch screen [mine cost me £50] you can download the free full trial version of Tunelab, which see. This will give you full stretch/over-pull/ET or lots of UT's, customised to your piano. I've found the results ...

Think very hard before putting your piano to auction. The only advantage is you are almost certain of a sale, as long as it's without reserve. The disadvantages are many. You will receive bottom price and have 20% commission and VAT to pay. You will also have the cost of transport whether you sell o...

The Kawai is very short. the Ibach would be a better musical instrument IF it is in good condition. It all depends on what was done to 'recondition' it, and how well that work was done.

Where do you get the 24K from ? Which model ?
BTW, I had a 168, which was a very nice instrument. I would have bought another [190] if I had not found my Bluthner. Even then the choice was decided by the toss of a coin.

The regulations make no distinction between a tradesman or anyone else. It is the type of work which dictates whether the person is required to be suitably qualified.
However, a tradesman's liability insurance may only cover what he is qualified to do, which is a seperate matter.
