Re: Tuning advice needed
Many thanks for your advice. I'll leave alone - or rather I won't worry too much about the 5 cents. It does however need tuning so I'll tune to where my A reference currently is. It's a shame about the "zingers".I played the piano for a couple of hours side by side with a Yamaha C3 which w...

Tuning advice needed
Have now had my new Kawai RX3 since last November. As posted previously, it arrived well sharp, and after two tunings where it wasn't taken down to concert pitch, it's now around 4 or 5 cents sharp across the termperament octave. I'm keen to get advice on whether I should: - leave it to settle furth...

Re: 180 cents sharp means a full retune?
Thanks Dan et al.
My mistake - I was misreading the tuning meter. I meant of course 444Hz and c. 16 cents sharp (my da Tuner app for some reason multiplies everything by 10).
So presumably this is still just about within bounds given that we haven't really had a change of season yet?

180 cents sharp means a full retune?
Hi, Further to my post recently about my new Kawai RX3 being a bit sharp on delivery... after a first tuning by a local tuner, I've rechecked the temperament octave and the average is about 180 cents above concert pitch. A49 for instance is reading about 444KHz. I know the piano will settle after a ...

Tuning advice
I've recently (5 weeks ago) bought a new Kawai RX3 grand, and need to think about a first tuning now it's had time to settle. Checking the current tuning out with a couple of digital meters suggests that the middle octave is around 20-30 cents sharp of concert pitch. Should I ask my tuner to go for ...

Ties versus slurs - help
Am currently working on Chopin's Barcarolle - and round the top of page 3 there are some repeated chords in the left hand with a tie or a slur linking the top notes.
How do you tell if it's a tie (i.e. I should hold the top note) or a slur (legato, slight emphasis on first chord)?
