Re: Harsh sounding note
Many thanks. I live in East Yorkshire. Is there anyone that can be recommended in the area? Is there a means of uploading video to these posts, so you can hear the issue? Lastly, and perhaps a very, very stupid question. I looked at the same model as mine in a piano showroom. It was new and the fron...

Harsh sounding note
Hello.
My D#3 sounds so harsh it stands out like a sore thumb. My piano was new 2 years ago It's had about 5 tune ups and has got worse. I pointed it out to tuner after last tuning and he had no words of wisdom.
The note is in tune - it's tone is awful.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Re: Frequencies
It was an L shaped lever with a star shaped head. Perhaps I made hard work of it due to having inhibitions about breaking strings, but it was all a bit too physical.

Re: Frequencies
I've tried my first unison touch up and wish I hadn't. I decided to have a go on one particular note that seemed to have a wavering pitch. My piano tuner had tuned A4 to 443. I used tuner pro app, which after selecting the stretch tuning option, gave me all the note frequencies for A4 at 443. I was ...

Re: Frequencies
Lastly,
Why does my yamaha serial number not check on any of the check websites.
I was told the piano was new and I was hoping to check that. Would Milton Keynes know?

Re: Frequencies
Gill Thanks for that info. I'm currently playing Field's nocturne no 10 and there are a few of these intervals from F# to C. The more I read the more it appears that some of my issues, are not actual issues. It certainly does need the regulation though. I've left a voicemail for a tech to get back t...

Re: Frequencies
Hello Many thanks all. I've decided after reading this that I won't touch the piano myself. The last post in particular suggests my idea of trying to set them all at 0 is going to make things worse, although I would say a few of my intervals are like harsh screams as it is. My F sharp 3 to middle C,...

Frequencies
Hello I had my piano tuned a week ago. My piano is only a year old and this is the 3rd tuning. I have a few issues with the piano and I think it might not have been regulated at the shop. Anyway, aside from double strikes, I have two problem notes, which remain problems through tune ups. E flat 3 so...

Hammer from string is 45mm and the key goes down 10mm. That's on C3 which frequently has the double strike

Re: Double Striking Hammers
In fairness, I've not really raised the problem to a large extent with the dealer, only briefly and was told to call the tuner/tech but the owner suggested things can self rectify after settling. Perhaps if I asked, they would replace it or take it in but I'm still trying to diagnose If I have a pro...

Re: Double Striking Hammers
Please could you explain what you mean by saying the b1 has its limits. I'm aware it is low end but does that mean it will always have problems? Would yamaha put their name to such an instrument? If however I should expect limitations, did the tech have a point in suggesting working the mechanism co...

Re: Double Striking Hammers
A whole day?! I may have to approach the blind man for advice. Problem is, he only advertises himself as a tuner. The tuner connected to the dealer advertises as a Tech, and these are the only 2 I know of locally. I cant help but feel this technician is protecting the dealer in not being honest with...

Double Striking Hammers
I was hoping some techs, tuners or players could pass on their advise or share experiences. I bought a brand new Yamaha B1 about 7 months ago. I bought it from a large piano dealer with a long established history. I saw no fault with the piano in the shop, because in shops they only seem to know how...
