What is the best gauge to use ??

I use a digital gauge for finding the thickness of felts. It changes when moved,what is a better gauge to use for accuracy?

Piano care and restoration by Eric Smith originally pub. 1980 lutterworth press ." For small pieces,notably dampers,some chiropody felt is suitably thick and soft".That's all it sayes.Thank you for trying.

Under conditions for Fletcher,they will not sell to the general public. I think they have the best products for my birdcage but I will look over here and see what I can find.Thank You Looking

I have an 1865 upright birdcage piano, made in Manchester,England.Do I need felt in side of the key chases or middle of the key lever? Would this piano have had front bushings inside of the key fronts? Is boxcloth still available and by what name? Is it all felt now?
