Berkeley(London) and Courtheim
I am trying to grade and get a manufacturing date for two pianos of which I have not been very successful. The one is a Berkeley(London) and the second is a Courtheim. I do have plate numbers but cannot seem to identify these mysterious pianos. Thanks for your help. Flaxman

Hey Barrie, Yes, the colour was teak and glossy, much like the more modern Eastern European types. May be a later model than 70's. Probably late 80's or early 90's. Nice condition but characteristic of these pianos with the false beats in the treble and screaming overtones. One of my students wants ...

Schumann Piano
Anybody have any idea about the quality of Schumann pianos? I couldn't even find the name on the piano ratings site. I tuned one today with lots of false beats and even though it doesn't look that old, I would guess that it is maybe eastern European (east Germany?) but any help would be welcomed. Fl...

I understand what you mean by no great value. I found the front of the cabinet had some very nice detail and the tuning wasn't too bad, but hadn't been tuned in years and moved a couple times so you know what that's like. Some pins wouldn't set and some false beats in the treble. Thanks for your inp...

Brooklyn Piano Company
I just tuned a beautiful piano today which has a most ornate cabinet, with mother of pearl inset into the front with some lovely extra features. I would like to valuate for this young lady but I have never heard of the Brooklyn Piano Company. I don't think it's an American piano as it has over dampe...

Hi Gill and thank you for your response. The euro to the sterling is about 1.45-1.50ish. Usually I find that the price of many pianos here would be on par there in the UK but some would have a markup reflecting the difference between the euro and the sterling. This is really a lovely piano I must sa...

About Allison pianos
I have a customer who has a beautiful Allison grand piano which I would say is a baby grand. I know they're called boudoirs (sp?) and it was built in 1939 but has been kept very nicely. The cabinet is gorgeous and the pins are nice and tight. Any ideas how much one would fetch for that? I have pics ...
