Pianist wanted

I made an error on the websit. It should be www.scottjr.plus.com
This will lead you to my son's music - very different from yours.

I am listening to your piece now. You obviously are very talented and critical if you want a better rendition than the finale / mp3 playback on Windows MediaPlayer. We cannot help regarding a suitable pianist. Could you try the RCM or RAM? I bought Finale for my son 10 or so years ago and then when ...

You should have used Sibelius Software to produce the composition. You then could have had a computer with midi input and sound card play it for you. My son has used this technique in his composition

Bechstein

The Bechstein says that your piano is the same basic piano as my 118 Classic which, as I said before, is very good. Indeed to me it sounded and felt better than any other piano in the showroom. Why don't you get another piano technician to look at your Millenium model. My then regular tuner said my ...

Bechstein

I did not buy my Bechstein on the internet but tried it first at the dealer where I purchased it. However have a look at http://www.soundsmusical.com/product.asp?ID=4823
where there is a 118 at a good price.

Bechstein

I visited Cheltenham looking for a Welmar with my son who likes Yamahas. We did not buy a Welmar but were very taken with the Bechstein. It was the best piano in the shop and from a peep inside it looked as if the piano had been rebuilt. The action looked like a new one. I do not know whether it was...

Bechstein Upright

My new Bechstein Classic 118 arrived today. It has a lovely feel and although the tone is not spectacularly loud, like some pianos, it is really good and expressive and after several hours playing it does not tire. The chords sound lovely and I assume, compared with my Seiler, the harmonics all blen...

piano purchase

I am buying my Bechstein with a loan from Moneyback Bank (part of Alliance & Leicester) over 12 months at 5.6%. I put in £16500 on their website and a loan of this spread over 5 years would cost £378.43 per month for 60 months (a total repayment of £22706) making yo...

Green & Marsh

There was a branch of Green & Marsh in Bath until about 20 or so years ago. I suspect they had pianos made and added their name rather than made them themselves.

piano

Thank you for your advise. We revisited Cheltenham and tried the 3 year old Yamaha U1 before committing to buying a new U1. My wife did not like it saying it was too bright. It sounded less bright previously when in a different position. She preferred the black Welmar with the Renner action and Abel...

Seiler - Yamaha

Thank you for your observations. I agree and accept that a piano dealer has to make a profit on each and every piano he sells. However the difference between Venables price and the money I have to pay BPCo (who presumably have a low turnover of pianos) plus my Seiler for the Yamaha is just 460 pound...

Seiler - Yamaha

Thanks for all your help. Harry looked at my Seiler piano on www pianostreet.co.uk and said it was completely overpriced. I replied saying that it is not so much my selling price but the actual payment I have to make plus my piano that is important to me. He did not reply further. Bristol Piano Co. ...

Piano

My search for a new Yamaha has drawn a blank so far. I contacted Chris Venables. They discount their pianos so much that he cannot afford to even offer a part exchange for mine which although a very good piano would not sell in his showroom which is full of Yamahas! I have advertised mine on pianost...

Welmar

I can only comment on the appearance of the Welmars. I can only comment on the appearance of the Welmar and I only inspected them with the top lid open. The Welmar cases and fittings looked good and the internals (from the open top lid) also looked well made and nicely finished. I found the edges at...

I also tried a Yamaha silent piano which seemed to be a very good alternative. I could play and listen in the headphones and my wife could watch TV!

Welmar and others

Thank you for your response. I have just returned home from Cheltenham where my son and I tried several pianos. There were 4 recently completed Welmars all sounding and feeling slightly different. Welmar

Thank you again for your replies. The Welmar (1997) is at Stockport and I understand has remained unsold because of the high price compared with many new pianos. The shop have offered to bring it to my home to compare with my Seiler. I am not keen to travel all those miles north. The Shop where they...

Hammers

Thanks for your reply.
He possibly might have said he uses the same make of hammers that Bechstein use. You can see his rebuilt Bently on ebay under "Brand new 'Bentley' piano by Phil-John"
However I am most unlikely to go for a similarly built Welmar because of risks involved.

Thanks for your reply. I think the risk of buying an untried piano is too great, although the action I saw Mr John fitting in his piano using a Bentley frame had an action with all wood components including the jacks. He said that he uses hammers from Renner or Bechstein. I will now try a Bechstein ...

Thank you for your response. Mr John of LLanelli has 4 Welmar frames fitted to their soundboards, a couple of Bentleys and a couple of Knights. He also has the keys and actions. He uses Roslau strings and bass strings from Ken Russell. He says he makes the case. I met him at his workshop and he told...

Handmade Piano

I was not thinking of buying a Bentley. I wish to purchase a mellow sounding piano because I find my Seiler too loud for our lounge. My aim was to buy a Welmar (I had a Welmar A2 made in 1964 but it is now with my daughter) or even a Bechstein. I thought a custom made Welmar would suffice. Perhaps I...

Seiler

I have a Seiler Favorit Special piano which I purchased new in 1993. I bought it in preference to a Welmar (I had a Welmar A2 at home which has a mellow sound). The Seiler was for my flat in Newcastle which had tall ceilings and large rooms. When I returned home with the Seiler I did not like the so...
