piano settling time
Hello again, As per my previous post, I'm investigating the nuances of my new piano (a 30 year old Yamaha U1 in superb condition). It was delivered very recently, and I've been playing it each day. I've noticed, very occasionally, some light buzzing - which is intermittent and often ceases with the ...

Loose lock knob for rack - how tight.
Hi, In seeking the source of a vibration in my Yamaha U1, I noticed that one of the two hand lock knobs that hold the rack in place (apologies for my obvious lack of technical knowledge) was quite loose. The other is very tight. In addition, the sloted mounting which fits onto the threaded rod was s...

Piano on wooden floor / remove wheels ?
Hi,
I'm curious as to what the conventional wisdom is with situating a piano on a wooden floor.
I presume it is okay to leave the 'wheels' attached to the base, but that that any uneveness should be packed ?
Any other issues to take into consideration ?
Thanks,
Paul

Returning to piano after many years - where to start ?
Hello all, I have just bought an immaculate 1969 Yamaha U1. I learned classical piano as a youngster, and then played some contemporary music (in bands) during my 20s. I'm now in my 40s and am looking for tips on where to start again. I know it sounds a little crazy, but I wonder if there are any in...

70's Yamaha U1 Advice
Hello, I have an opportunity to buy a U1 - 70s vintage. The price is about 1/3 of a new one - I'd value any thoughts on whether this represents reasonable value, and whether there are any significant concerns with the Yamaha U1s of the 70s. The piano itself appears and sounds to be excellent conditi...
