Have a look at the Kemble cambridge. It is probably the best piano that falls within budget.

Bosendorfer sucked into Yamaha vacuum
Yamaha has reached an agreement with the Austrian bank, BAWAG, to purchase Bösendorfer Klavierfabrik, widely considered one of the top three piano manufacturers along with Steinway and Bechstein. The sum of the purchase is expected to be in the region of £11 million. BAWAG had been struggl...

Yes indeed! Lovely to hear someone making a quality-led decision rather than a cheapness-led one. You will be a long-term happy customer I'm sure. On the subject of the Mozarts I think they are the best thing ever to have come out of the Kemble factory. They are of course a limited edition and I thi...

Kawai officially not in trouble.
MIpro announced this morning....
The Kawai UK office and operation, despite rumours to the contrary, is fully operational and the sales team working as usual.
Doesn't sound too reassuring really, a bit like the "are you still beating your wife?" line!
Go on then, what rumours???

Has it ever been tried? Are there and prototype models out there? Is it simply too expensive? What would the effect on sound quality be? Is there enough felx in carbon, is it a suitable material? Are there any cabon fiber engineers out there to help with these questions? Is it worth making a more po...

I'm tempted to say the answer is obvious (although admittedly expensive!). Your old Bluthner lasted 96 years! Buy a new one, you know they are worth it. With Kemble being bought out 100% by Yamaha (9/7/07) this brings to an end the 170 odd year tradition of english piano making.

Bluthners have a dynamic range that leave any other piano standing (even Fazzy). It's not for everyone (life is a subjective experience!!) but a good Bluthner is a very wonderful thing and too rarely used on concert platforms in the UK. I recently visited the factory in Leipzig. The Kemble 121 was placed second in the 'largest ever piano comparison test ever'. It came second to a Steinway over 4 times the price. The test results are available from Kemble on a double cd rom. There's quite a bit of boffiny white-coat stuff but it's well meaning.
