Thank you for your replies.
I know the history and purpose from the pedal clavichords to the modern pedal grand pianos and was just interested to know if Challen had this uprigth in the production line. After all, there is quite a lot of new music written for this type of piano.

Re: Aspheim? What does it mean?
Aspheim is an old piano dealer in Oslo Norway.
www.aspheim.no
It seems they had some uprights made in Korea and sold them under their own name.
You could contact the company for more information.

Steinway does keep an international price list of used instruments.
For what it's worth.

The keytops are not made of ivory.
It is possible that the higher upright will have a better sound in the bas, but I think you should simply go for the instrument you like the best!

Re: Schiedmayer & Soehne
I have a Schiedmayer & Soehne piano made 1898, wonderful craftmanship.
Today they make Celestas only but they have all old files from their production.
Mrs Schiedmayer at their office in Stuttgart kindly told me the year of manufacture, where it was sent and to whom it was sold.

Exactly, that is why I asked.
It is a very small upright and the bas will suffer from from having very short strings.

Re: New Feurich 122 upright vs @1973 Grotrian Steinweg uprig
Yes, Feurich today is manufactured in China and is not to compare with the original German instruments. Most of the Grotrian uprights sold in those days was the model 112, a small upright. Do you have more information about "your" Grotrian? The Grotrian 124 Classic is the best upright ever...

Epoxy will not work on top of an oil base. You will have to first sand down to the wood.

Re: Erard Piano Restoration Project advice
The last Erard I repaired was from 1860, made in Paris, 240 cm with under damper system. It was hardly played but someone had installed new nickel plated tuning pins and cracked the pin block. Also some new cupper wounded strings were installed. The hammer felt was not worn, just compressed, so it w...

Sorry, I did it again, missed the double N.
If the piano name is Kelmann and it is new, could it be from China?
Where can we see the picture of the Kelmann?

Re: Yamaha U1 key fronts yellow, soft and peeling
Many Yamaha pianos had problems with key fronts and tops. The tops got a "dirty" look and it was impossible to clean them, so Yamaha changed quite many under warranty. I think they were experimenting with new key top materials and some of it was not good enough.

Hello Dan!
Yes, after the "R" came the "T" which later was changed to the "K" model.
The "R" model was on the Titanic.

Re: Double iron frame
Thank you Barrie, I have just seen one upright with a back frame before, the old Steinway R. Do you know if it possible to get more information about Monington & Weston? Here in Sweden British pianos and grands are quite rare. They were known to have a pleasent tone, but they were sensitive to o...

Double iron frame
Hello!
I am new here.
Years ago I tuned an upright, which was British made, but I do not remember the brand name. It was built with an extra iron frame on the back, very heavy.
Does anyone here have information about such an instrument?
