Thank you, Bill. I bought the piano from a piano tuner who also restores pianos. Because it was repolished the actual name is no longer there, however the same tuner has looked after it for quite a few years. On his estimate the piano is approximately 70 years old. Thank you, the link you provided is a very interesting one. It hadn't occurred to me that the piano may have been made by another firm. I can't find any other identifying marks on the piano so the whole thing is a mystery. I do hope someone can shed some light on this but in the meantime, I am enjoy...

I have acquired a small grand piano, Barratt and Robinson. The serial number is 4541. Just trying to find out how old it is.
