Re: Best digital pianos?
Hi I did a lot of research for a Digital Piano a few months ago BUT, certainly not at the high end level, unfortunately! Neither am I claiming to be an expert. However, it seems Yamaha are well reputed; Kawai too. I favoured the Roland when I was choosing mine and, apparently, they are very well rep...

Re: What your Piano Tuner Needs - Please !!
I'm amazed, Gill. I believe you - but isn't that crazy, to say nothing of lack of respect for your skills! Only by reading this thread have I ever appreciated the need of quiet for a piano tuner, as I have never had a piano (my parents did but I was never there when it was tuned) and so I was very i...

Re: What your Piano Tuner Needs - Please !!
The problem with situations like that is the tuner books the appointment but the staff do not have a clue that silence is required. It is up to the staff to arrange a time for the tuner when it is best for him not to get too much noise. To be honest, I think the responsibility must come down to the...

Re: What your Piano Tuner Needs - Please !!
Yes, I prefer absolute silence aswell, but never get it!! I tune a reasonably good piano for a rest home, ... its murder trying to tune. This morning, at the Residential Home where my father is, a Piano Tuner arrived as I was leaving. I was immediately reminded of this thread - the Morning Service ...

Re: Restore shine to ivory keys?
It might be worth checking if there is any alcohol content in the baby wipes as often there isn't, because they are to be used on baby's bum, etc.
Don't know that that makes any difference to the solution, though.
Sorry this has happened. Hope anyone else takes notice not to use wipes.

I'm very pleased to read the OP isn't a 'wind up'. I do hope nobody has taken offence. My comments were merely my thoughts. I do hope you get full refund of any monies paid re ebay transaction. Yes, I do hope you will post the outcome as it will be of interest to us, and also, perhaps of use to anyo...

Re: Loss of confidence
Hi DaveBrun Please don't dispair!!! I went away for 8 days over Easter. The family I stayed with had a keyboard so, although I hadn't taken my books and couldn't remember how to play any of the tunes, I did practice scales and so forth. However, once back home, I couldn't play anything with any sugg...

Hi there You've clearly worked hard and achieved ... For that you should be congratulating yourself. You've proved you have learning ability so hopefully this is just a 'blip', and you will feel better about it all very soon. I can understand what you mean though. Re: Clavinova - faulty E & A sharp
Hi You don't say what part of the country you are in, so hard to recommend a music shop. I was in Millers, Cambridge, yesterday and they would be my first thought to ask advice. Presumably, any decent shop selling digital pianos will have somewhere for repairs. They will surely have been asked this ...

Re: Clavinova - faulty E & A sharp
Hi You say your Clavinova is 'recently acquired' so does that mean recently bought, in which case it will be under warranty. If second hand and/or out of warranty then obviously a different situation. Have you tried contacting music shops who sell digital pianos and ask where they would seek such ad...

Re: Digital piano key noise - real facts wanted
Again, thanks My apologies. I think I should have typed CLP430 and not 420 - don't think there is such a model. My mistake !!! I would love to hear your opinion of the CLP430 once you have had opportunity to try it out. My local music shop doesn't have it available; a music shop in a city further af...

Re: Digital piano key noise - real facts wanted
Thanks, NewAge That's very useful reading. I have to say, the digital pianos that I have played, in the local music shop (Yamaha 161, Roland F110 and *201), I didn't notice any noise from the keys. I am only slightly aware of keys on my little Casio keyboard. I suspect key noise won't be too much of...

Re: Digital piano key noise - real facts wanted
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm most likely to go for Clavanovia or Roland. I'm pleased to hear the better models tend to have less key noise! I have re-read your 'edited' sentence and it make more sense to me now. thanks for that clarification. Have you had opportunity to play the newer model, CLP4...

Re: Digital piano key noise - real facts wanted
Hi Markymark Are you saying that 'noisy keys' are more of an issue in the better quality digital pianos? I had assumed it would be the other way around so am very interested to know. As you may already know, I am looking around for a digital piano so this is cleary something I will need to be aware ...

Re: Upgrading to a digital Piano
Hi I realise I'm resurrecting an 'old' post but I am very interested to know how you (rv88uk) are getting on with your CLP340. You will have had it about 18 months now. I have recently started piano lessons (nearly 3 mths ago). I got to Grade 3 as a child but then stopped, unfortunately. Acquiring a...

Re: Digital piano key noise - real facts wanted
Hi Dan Welcome ... Yes, I'm a new member too! I can't help regarding your key noise, I'm afraid but, regarding going into these music shops to try the instruments and feeling daunted, my feeling is that these music shops must surely understand that you need to try out instruments, ie digital pianos ...

Hi Yes, it does look good, and fits nicely there. Thanks for letting us know about it and why you chose it. I think it will be a month or so before I decide on getting something. I am using a little Casio keyboard just now so it would be lovely to get something more like a piano. However, it does me...

Hi My 'little' Casio keyboard has only 66 keys (I think; haven't counted them) - 5 octaves, so not a 'full set', as it were! Yes, good idea to try the Digital Piano forum. Re: P95 Delivery delayed
Hi folks May I, firstly, say 'hello'. This is my first post here. I have recently started piano lessons again, 50yrs on from having got to Grade 3 as a child, so a lot of re-learning to do, having only a little (5 octave, very light touch) Casio keyboard at the moment! May I ask Paddy what he liked ...
