OT / Re: Gildemeester & Kroeger
An addition just related to the name. With the (nearly) same name a development is said as being on the way - aim: to produce a giant concert grand. Developer once was Mr Klavins from Bonn, Germany who in 1989 installed an upright at one wall in his piano shop - length of the piano is 370cm i.e. 12+...

Re: Sources on Perzina Serial Numbers
Hope that this is not against Bill Kibby activites, just the book was at hand: "J U Witter, Klavier-Lexikon". It says on page 346 to Perzina, Schwerin, that 1920 there was #26,000 and also # 26,600 was in 1920, and # 31.000 was in 1925. Little Interpolation for #26,888 would deliver an est...

Re: Steinway grand 1877, english & scottish history search
Yes, Bill, you are right. Most info came from Steinway, first from Hamburg factory office where a very helpful young lady works in sales assistance etc., then after she contacted Steinway Hall London, infos from over there. Thank you all for your input. The search will go on. In the next days I will...

Re: Steinway grand 1877, english & scottish history search
Thank you for your answer. Yes, it is only a little chance to dig out the former history. But I will try.. I think that this instrument is something "special" in several aspects, and this may have had the attention of former music specialists, tuners, instruments dealers etc.: 1- It is a c...

Steinway grand 1877, english & scottish history search
Hello to all, beginning this year I had the gorgeous chance to buy a super old concert grand from Steinway.Great instrument. It left the Steinway factory in Manhattan in Sept 1877 and was shipped to London via Liverpool. In January 1878 a Mr. Stubbs bought the piano. (There once was a Reverend Stubb...

Re: Gerhard Adam Piano AGE??
Hello Bill Kibby, you are right, regarding #19000. And I am probably right as we talk about number 19.663. ;) #19000 was built in 1915, #20000 was built in 1919, and 1915 was World WarOne. 19663 is closer to #20000 (made 1919) so my assumption is 1918 or 1919.. ... But I may be wrong. Peace on Earth...

Re: Gerhard Adam Piano AGE??
I recently bought a gorgeous data book "Das Klavierlexikon" edited by Jens-Uwe Wittner, a young piano technician from Leipzig. Underlined: "18.122 Namen und Fabrikate". His timeline for G. Adam, Wesl, founded 1828, tells that #19,000 was built in 1915, and no. 20,000 in 1919. As ...
