New piano - tuning recommendation
So I finally got my act together and traded up the Kawai K2 with a brand new Kawai K500. And it is indeed a great instrument. Just a quick question - the instrument was tuned before delivery and it sound more or less OK to me, though not perfect. When do you think would be the best time for a first ...

Re: K500 anyone
Vernon, I am in London. A store (outside London) has offered me a part exchange: K500 for 4.5k + the K2 (which is in quite good shape). It seems like a good deal but still quite a bit of money. I have tried to sell the K2 myself but no luck.

K500 anyone
Has anyone played the newish Kawai K500? I need to upgrade our current piano (Kawai K2) and I generally like the Kawai sound/action. If you have played on of them, would you recommend? Are they a clear improvement on the K3/K5? I am planning to play around a bit at Jaques Samuel but I have not had t...

Thanks I will look at the Peters edition - I agree cost is a relative thing. I will also look at the Kalmus edition.

Scarlatti
Hello everyone:
Does anybody know if there is a vaguely affordable edition of the complete Scarlatti sonatas?
I have the Schirmer Kirkpatrick 60 sonatas, as well as the Dover 4 volumes, but I still miss some.
Alternatively, are there other good selections recommended.
Thanks
Bart

Re: Adding a silent option to a piano - any tips?
OK that is all great info. Turns out our regular tuner knows how to install these Gabor systems, so that is probably what we do (personally, I just about manage to swap a light bulb, but that is about the extend of my DIY skills).
Thanks
Bart
Thanks

Adding a silent option to a piano - any tips?
Folks, As we are moving to a new house, I am going to need a piano with a silent option. I was hoping to do a part exchange of our K2 into a silent K3 or U1, but it seems in the current economic climate no vendors are really interested in part exchanges. So I am looking at converting our K2, adding ...

Re: 1st ( and last purchase) ?
seniorminnion I went through the same decision process as yourself a few years ago and ended up buying a new K2. This is about 4 years ago. We have been very happy with it, I would say that we are between grades 2 and 6 in our house. It has a really nice sound and action (but not as good as the K5 a...

Piano upgrade + trade in
I know there are a fair amount of people from the trade here - please advise. I few years ago we bought a Kawai K2 and we have been very happy with it ever since. We are now considering to move to a place where noise could be an issue, so I am considering getting a silent piano. I think I'd go for a...

Scarlatti K404
Hello,
Does anyone know about a commercially available edition of Scarlatti K404 (in A Major)? I have the Sixty Sonatas book, which is very nice but it does not include this one.

Re: Best digital pianos?
The looks are not that important, it needs to be a good piano, I think I will focus on the Yamaha's. Thanks for all the tips so far.

Re: Best digital pianos?
Lets say that it can cost a few grand, I am sure I would get away with 5K, probably a bit more. (One of our other offices has an accoustic Yamaha grand)

Best digital pianos?
Folks, We need to get a new digital piano at work. The good thing is that we'd like to pay to get a very good instrument. The bad thing is that I need to handle this and I do not really know about digitals. So, collective wisdom, what would be the best models you can get if you want to have the best...

K2 is a nice piano, I bought one a few years ago, and very happy with it. My only regret is that I did not buy the K3.

I bought a K2 2 years ago, and it is a beautiful piano. K3 is quite a step up though.

bach - Menuet in G 116
This very nice piece is part of the ABRSM grade 3 syllabus (to be phased out this year). However, it is also part of Keyboard Anthology Third Series Book 1 - Grades 1 and 2 (also published by ABRSM) So ... either these grades are a bit fluid. Or "standards have slipped" ... Any other sugge...

Classical guitar for piano players ... nails
Hello: Do we have people who play both piano and classical guitar? I have been playing piano for approx 3 year and loving it. Now also started learning classical guitar. Which is all good and well ... except for finger nails. In summary: Piano: keep your nails short (as I have been nail biting for m...

Re: First Piano
(second time I try posting a reply). Scott, You can negotiate quite a lot on new list prices. Kawai K2 is a very nice piano, the list price is approx 4K but you should be able to get it for 3K (outside London). One thing you will have to deal with, as a classical guitar player, is nails. I play pian...
