Re: Update on my 4 year old
Thanks for taking the time to have a look at the videos and for your feedback. I'll try to keep encouraging her to add the dynamics and hopefully, since she is young, in time it might become automatic. It was reassuring to hear that memorization is not necessarily a bad thing. I will look at the sig...

Re: Update on my 4 year old
Thanks for the book suggestion Colin. I will have a look for it. Sounds like it will be ideal. I'll ask her teacher too but I wasn't looking for him to set more material for her to cover.. really just more music for her to play around with at home and not feel pressured into getting it perfect by he...

Re: Update on my 4 year old
Thank you very much for the suggestion. Late last year she did work through most of the ABRSM Grade 1 book and then moved on to the Grade 2 pieces before her tutor suggested the Mozart and Bach books as well. Would the exam pieces from the different music boards be of the same difficulty across the ...

Update on my 4 year old
Hi, I came on this board last year looking for advice about piano lessons for my daughter. It has been about 6 months now so I thought I'd send an update and get some feedback and ask for some more advice. She turned 4 in December. A is going to piano lessons every other week at the moment and loves...

Re: Easy pieces to show my daughter
Thanks for the advice. I do not consider it to be interfering at all. Alanna is three years and nine months now. Her teacher is a pianist in London. He does not normally take students under 6 but he has agreed to teach her after she had a trial a few weeks ago. She has had three lessons so far. At t...

Easy pieces to show my daughter
Hi, I posted last month about my three and a half year old who wants to learn to play the piano. I was able to find a suitable teacher and she is now going every other week for lessons and she loves it. So far she has learnt some scales, intervals and has done a bit of note reading and is learning t...

Re: musical three and a half year old
Thanks for the response Colin. It is my daughter in the videos. She is not playing from the book. She plays by ear. Her older sister plays a bit and my younger likes to put the books on the piano when she is playing and pretend she is using the book. She has been asking to learn what the notes are a...

musical three and a half year old
Hi, I have a three and a half year old who has been asking for piano lessons for over a year now. I'd really like some advice about what would be best for her. She has always been a musical child. I have a video of her when she was one and a half and she was singing along to the alphabet song but sh...
