Re: excited
As reported, the Masterclass has arrived, and looks, feels and sounds wonderful. This is the first Sauter Masterclass I've seen with the Mahogany finish. Certainly looks good and matches the surroundings well. I'm sure you'll have a great time together. :piano; Thanks! We're very pleased with the c...

Re: Haynes Piano Manual
I've not read the manual, but I, too, would be very wary of doing anything but very basic things, and I am by nature fairly adventurous in terms of having a go at things technical (for instance, when we moved here 16 years ago we didn't know a tuner in the area, and I did tune our own Dalmaine mysel...

Re: excited
Many thanks - I'm not active on the site, just a lurker, but I read your thread with great interest - we have a dog, too, a very laid back border collie (yes, they do exist!). I think our reasons for choosing the Masterclass were very similar to yours; we love the purity and clarity of tone, the pow...

Re: Yamaha to close down Bosendorfer?
We seem to have strayed a long way from the point of this thread. However ... no-one has "talked me into" my opinions. I hold those based on my personal preferences. All "top grade" pianos have advocates and that is just as it should be. I have never played a Steingraeber but man...

Re: Yamaha to close down Bosendorfer?
I don't have a lot of experience, but I believe Sauter to be the best pianos available anywhere in the world. This is based on having listened to a good number of instruments of varying sizes when looking for our new piano, and listening to recordings of top quality pianists (ie much better than I a...

Re: Yamaha to close down Bosendorfer?
I understand what you are saying, but if I were lucky enough to win the lottery and be able to buy a house big enough for a large grand piano, I wouldn't choose a Steinway. I know that they enjoy a near monopoly in the concert halls, and that there is a long waiting list, and that many performers sw...

Re: Yamaha to close down Bosendorfer?
Even if they have a five year commitment, I see that as being given five year's notice rather than having a five year contract.

Re: excited
Hi Stuart! We're getting a Masterclass 122 - which is an upright with a lot of features of a grand (other than the size!). We don't spend that sort of money very often, but an aunt kindly left us some money which we wanted to put into something really special which we could enjoy for many years to c...

Re: excited
Thanks for replying - Sauter pianos aren't the cheapest, but as a Larry Fine Category 1b listed piano, many regard them as being as good as or better than, and definitely quite a bit cheaper than many if not all the 1a listed pianos. We first found out about Sauter from a piano forum (not sure now w...

Piano movers recommendations?
Hello. Just heard that the firm that was to have delivered our piano cannot now do so until 6th August. Rather disappointed. Can anyone recommend a firm that takes excellent care of the instrument? Don't mind about cost. Just want it done quickly and professionally.

Re: excited
For those of you who are interested, our blog of our factory tour to Sauter can be found herehttp://www.headingley-pianos.co.uk/pian ... tml#bieder.
We had a great time, and the attention to detail which many have talked about was clear for all to see. That certainly inflluenced our choice.

Re: Yamaha to close down Bosendorfer?
I don't think anyone thought it would happen to Kemble - Yamaha's business interests are best served by taking over or eliminating all European competition; buying up ideas, names and designs and concentrating manufacture in the Far East.

Only a few days to go until our Sauter masterclass arrives from Leeds. We went to Spaichingen last month for a tour of the factory - fascinating - and are eagerly awaiting the piano's arrival in East Yorkshire. I love the Sauter sound and hope my playing will, in time, become worthy of such a noble ...
