Re: 1st ( and last purchase) ?
[quote="joseph" There is a shop in a city in Scotland that isn't Glasgow or Edinburgh, and he has a Yamaha G3. He's selling it for 12,000 and it's in original condition. He said to me it's about 10 to 15 years old.... I looked at the serial number. It's clearly a mid 1970s model.... and i...

Re: HELP PLEASE!
Hi billymitchell90, I concur, you have an old piano. I would suggest it's possibly nearing 100 yrs. The pictures also tell me that it's ' over strung ' With regard to value.....it's worth as little or as much as someone is prepared to pay you for it. All sort of people can and will tell you what the...

Re: Knight K10 K20
Hi Phiphi, to answer some of the questions that you have asked.... 1. The K20 is a smaller piano. 2. Through my 30 years in the piano trade..I have never had occassion or need to ever change the tuning pins in any knight piano. They are solid in every aspect. I would add ....that's precisely why sch...

Re: New Kawai vs 2nd Hand Chappell
Hi Outofpractice , I read your question and thought I should offer my take on it. From the replies it obvious that the others on the forum favour the Kawai. I suggest that the Chappell is the better choice. Reasons The Chappell is only 30yrs old. In piano terms thats 'no time at all'. The Chappell w...

Re: value of older piano?
Hi alilever0, I understand that you are asking mainly about value and if it's a good time to sell ? i.e. The state of the market as it stands today. As a piano tuner who runs his own shop buying and selling pianos I will tell you what I told someone earlier today... " Your piano is worth as muc...

Re: Problems Kaiwi white key surface
Hi athomik, I assume that 'steve b ' is concerned that the 'wear and tear ' i.e.the scratches... are... 1. easily seen to th eye 2. of concern that after such a short time scale have appeared. The comments that as the piano would have some use at the showroom isn't really relivant. How long would it...

Re: Problems Kaiwi white key surface
Hi steve b, I would suggest that you go directly to the company that you bought it from and allow them to solve the problem. You will have a guarantee with the piano ? Use it and seek a solution. I assume the solution would go along the route of 1. tell you that all is well or... 2. replacing the ke...

Hi, "Every note sticks " As the plot thickens you get more and more of the story. I always want to know....where has the piano been ? who was the last owner ? why did they sell it ? what kind of heating was in the house ? Every answer builds a better picture. Sticking notes could suggest a...

Hi, You have seen this piano at an 'Antiques Centre'....why not local piano shop ? Surely that would be the ' sensible' route to buying a piano ? Buying from a 'Antiques' place may mean that it looks very nice....but i would have thought that you would want to buy a good instrument ? Before you deci...

Re: eavestaff royal pianette mini piano
Hi Andyg, A good way to find out an approximation of value is to have a look around E-bay. I should point out that their's a big difference between ' what someone is asking for an item and what the 'actually' achieve '. Also, I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but it's clearly a buyers market ou...

Hi Chris, I think you already know what you should do with your Chappell..but you have difficulty saying the words...! There's a date a the beginning of November that you should certainly bear in mind.... It would perhaps be a fitting memorial to your piano and all efforts so far. Out with the old.....

Re: Knight question
Hi, Looks like a knight K10. Sounds like it's in good condition. I would suggest that you advertise it on this web site under the ' Pianos for sale ' section. Depending on the condition, in the past, I have paid anything from £300 to £ 1,800 for a knight K10 in mint condition. When deciding upon an ...

Hi XR63,
A possible line of enquiry could begin with someone who should know the most....David Rushworth. I spoke with him recently as he now works on behalf of Intermusic. I would suggest you could get him at http://www.intermusic.uk.com
Good luck

Hi New Age,
I look forward to your visit...
I prefer customers that are straight to the point and ask ' for a coffee '.
It's always good to have someone in that know a thing or two about pianos.
I'll leave this space clear for my advert....
.....
Have a safe journey.

Hi guys, The local authorities go for the safe option. The lowest cost prevails. Near to me, a local authority done a similar thing a few years ago, bought low quality Yam's... Hi guys, No matter what you decide...I would strongly advise you to sit and play any piano that you are considering....hence Don't buy on-line !
