For a proper job contact a piano workshop who have a mounted buff wheel.Light sand with grade zero garnet sandpaper depending on scores and how yellow keys are,and shine up using soap on buff wheel.For a quick job mild solution of sodium hydroxide on a cloth,always better to remove keys to do this.

Taxi business always booming,other companies sold up and still doing a bit of dabbling in piano tuning,repairs and sales been offered job in the U.S piano related so having some time out.

As mentioned previously buy the Essex as its new comes with 10 year warranty,peace of mind and the dealer must have a excellent reputation if Steinway have appointed them to represent them in your area.Too many ifs and buts buying used Yamaha pianos stay clear.

No profit no business,plenty of overheads in Piano Industry some sales you make less some you make plenty my moto was "new for show secondhand for dough"one of the reasons i retired was did not want to be a bean-counter for black shiny pianos new or used.

I agree it would be nice if there were more manufacturers in the "very sought after" bracket currently occupied by Yamaha and Steinway. Doctors go for the Steinways, families go for the Yamahas. Everyone else gets confused and buys an Eavestaff Minipiano Pianette from ebay http://archive....

I agree it's better to have sensible prices from the start rather than over-inflating the RRP just so you can offer a big discount. You can also get a load of c**p on ebay. When a customer come to me wanting to get rid of a grotty piano I advise them we charge £150 to collect and destroy. Most tell me they will put them on ebay. These are pianos with major problems I have advised be broken up. Most of these are 50-120 years old...

the reliability of the Yamaha systems which I have encountered has been superb, the only issue being failing LEDs in the sensor mechanism which are relatively cheap to replace.. Although I believe the Yamaha Silent is the best, it has to be treated with a little more care than a conventional piano....
