Re: Yamaha YDP140 V Yamaha P85
I would go for the Yamaha YDP140. It comes with a fixed stand, which is more suitable for home use. Other digital pianos to consider are: Yamaha CLP320. Roland RP101, Kawai CL25, Classenti CDP1, and YDP160. The Yamaha CLP320 gets my top marks for overall performance. I appreciate that some of these ...

Re: Best digital stage piano for £500-600
With a budget of less than £600 then the Yamaha P85 would be the only choice. Would definitely not consider a Casio until they can improve the sound and touch. There are a few downsides to the Yamaha though. I've received many comments (and I've tested myself) that the underside of the piano is roun...

Re: Clavinova for a beginner - 330 / 340 / 370?
I did my grade 8 piano (20 years ago) and practiced 2 hours a day for 18 months on an old Yamaha Clavinova. My teacher said she was sure I would get a distinction. I took my exam at the Royal Academy of Music on an upright piano and REALLY STRUGGLED. I only just passed! The reason for this was becau...

Re: Thomann digital piano
Personally I don't like the Thomann pianos. You can read a review I did on the Thomann DP-40 (which is the next model down in the range). Here it is: http://www.ukpianos.co.uk/thomann-dp-40-review.html

You needn't go higher than the Yamaha CLP320. The difference between the models is only slight and a beginner wouldn't notice it anyway. The CLP320 is easily good enough to get you up to around grade 6 or even 7. After that you will probably want to consider an upright or grand piano.

Re: Is using a digital piano, bad for your fingers touch???
Yes, and no... Years ago when I practiced for my grade 8, I had a Yamaha Clavinova. It was a basic one, but, to me, it felt like playing a real piano. Totally dedicated to getting a distinction, I practiced 2 hours a day, every day, for 18 months. So much practice! I could play all scales with my ey...

Re: Yamaha YDP-S30 vs Arius?
The reason for the price increase is due to Yamaha UK putting up its trade prices. Occasionally you will find some very nice deals on specific models, this is when Yamaha UK want to clear some surplus stock and they offer it to their dealers at a discount. The dealers then reduce their prices -- The...
